This place has incredible gelato and is very affordable. You will not be disappointed. We tried dark chocolate, expresso, coconut, blood orange, and strawberry cheesecake. The kids size was perfect for our kids. The staff was friendly and allowed us to sample different flavored before we made a purchase.

Pricey, but the best ice cream I've ever had. So creamy, rich, great flavors. We'll be back!

  • Mary Elizabeth C.

Super yummy gelato very close to our palmetto dunes lodgings. The kids got double chocolate and it lived up to its moniker. Delicious! The chocolate hazelnut and spumoni did not disappoint either. Loved the cones on top, as did the kids.

Simply said, after gelato almost every night I have been in northern Italy, plus a few other places around the world, I am a gelato aficionado & enthusiast. So, with fond appreciation to all those places in the US, THIS IS THE BEST! Pino Gelato competes with the best gelato shops in almost every way. Selection of flavors of gelato and sorbetto are excellent, with nut, fruit, chocolate, and other flavors. A selection of over 20 flavors, there is at least one for everybody. The interior decor is very Italian, with colors, furnishings, equipment all befitting a top medium sized shop in Italy. They have the advantage of also supporting animal rescue organizations, have gelato catering, and a few snacks like cookies & a pizza cone (pizza, no gelato). One area that would be nice to address is the limited coffee and espresso drinks offered. Not a deal breaker, but an Italian might notice. So, if you want a healthier treat than ice cream, or if you want the most enjoyable frozen confection in the SE USA, if not the entire country, stop here!

Very delicious gelato, probably the best I've ever had. The nutella gelato was especially delicious. The prices weren't 'cheap' but you get what you pay for...though I wish the scoops weren't so small. All in all, I am looking forward to coming back here bc the gelato is just that good. I also liked the addition of the tiny cone to scoop up some gelato with. After eating a burrito at java burrito and strolling over for dessert, my husband and I had a wonderful evening...thanks pino gelato :)

  • John E.

Complaints about price here are quite silly. Pino Gelato serves well-made gelato, which you should pay a little more for. There are plenty of worse dessert places one could go to if you want to save $.50 (frozen yogurt dispensaries, I am looking at you). Everything was pretty great but among our favorites were the salted caramel, blood orange, and mango. We went twice, and were sad we didn't get to go more often.

  • Alanna B.

Check-in on Yelp with mobile and get a free scoop promo on phone! Many different flavors. Small portions with higher prices but use your check-in offer and get $1.95 off. Definitely will go here for my gelato fix on the island.

  • Anthony A.

Every time I'm in Hilton Head, I make it a point to visit Pino Gelato; they have some of the best gelato I've ever tasted. Their limoncello and nutella gelato are the best, but you cannot go wrong with any of the flavors they offer.

  • John B.

THE BEST gelato PERIOD! Rich, creamy and all flavors have pieces of the flavor in the blend. Favorite is a tie (haha) between Coconut and everything else. Smooth creamy and pieces of coconut throughout, makes for an ideal companion to the other flavors. Would give this 5 except for these items: close at 9PM, too early for the late night diners. And this which bugged my wife, they started closing down around 8:20ish. If you're only open till 9, stay open till 9.

    (4)
  • Lan N.

Check-in and receive one free scoop! Small little shop for a nightcap sweet tooth craving. The flavor variety will please the masses. You can definitely trust that they will have the staple flavors: vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and strawberry. Creamy and flavorful. Side note: waffle cones are stale. I'd suggest to request for one fresh out of the box.

  • Lena P.

Cute place in a shopping center. The customer service was great! We tried a lot and it was hard to choose but here's what we got: Dulce de leche - yum! So much flavor! Cotton candy - very sweet just like the real thing!! Strawberry sorbetto - healthy and very fresh! Loved the little cone at the top of my scoop, perfect touch!

I LOVE this place and is a must every time we are on the island. I've been countless number of times throughout the many trips and each time is just as great as the last. Year after year this gelato place has maintained a consistency that I haven't seen at any gelato place in the US. They have a rotation of flavors and I feel that the Blood Orange as well as Stracciatella are the two bests. My parents always stand by he Pistachio and Espresso flavors. The ladies here always are willing to help pick a flavor and are super patient when it comes down to trying out various flavors. On top comes this tiny little cone that's a perfect little touch of cuteness as well as crunch added to the gelato eating experience.

  • Harry M.

Fantastic gelato. Friendly staff. Free scoop of gelato with check in. Decent coffee, could have used more milk in the latte. All good things coming from Pino Gelato. They have very Italian sounding flavors as well as the traditional ones like chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, etc. I had black raspberry chocolate chip which actually had little peanut butter cups in it. Definitely recommend it.

    (5)
  • Mike H.

Hazelnut stood up to my memories of Italy. Pistachio was also tasty. A couple flavors 'looked' artificial just based on coloring but the two I tried (Hazelnut/Pistachio) tasted A-ok to me. They also had cookies and other desserts that looked tempting. The downside was the little cone they stuck on top of the gelato. My 8 year old dug it, but to me it tasted like flavorless cardboard. I recommend tossing it, don't try eating it.

    (4)
  • Michael C.

I had not had gelato in many years so did not have a lot to compare this to. My selection was very good although I think the prices were on the high side. Yelp check-in got me a free added scoop so that was nice. Overall good experience and will visit again.

This isn't gelato, it's ice cream. Horrid attitudes from staff as well. Go to Whole Foods.

    (1)
  • Abe A.

We ordered 2 waffle cones with one scoop . The scoop was the size of a golfball so we had to order 2 scoops and $11 later .. It was good but will never go back due to minuscule scoop

    (2)
  • Erin J.

I checked in and got a free scoop! Customer service wasn't memorable...it wasn't horrible, just dull. The gelato was tasty I had sea salted caramel and blueberry. Both sooo good. The perfect treat when it's hotter than 50 shades of hell outside. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for outdoors and ran into a cute squirrel who liked ice cream cones. Hahaha he was crunching loudly too. Cuteness overload!

    (4)
  • Victoria B.

Small shop with great flavored! We highly recommend, especially with the offer of an additional scoop for Yelpers that check in there.

    (4)
  • Teressa L.

Not cheap, but they let us do a lot of samples before ordering. You get a small amount, but it's packed full of flavor, and a little mini cone on top. Small seating area, but the shopping area has some tables around the corner as well. They have a punch card as well. The salted caramel was absolutely the best flavor we tried!

    (4)
  • Bee B.

Tiny scoops make for a very expensive ice cream! Not the greatest gelato I had either.

    (2)
  • Debbi D.

The gelato was just as good as we have eaten in Italy. Good flavor variety. Service was helpful and friendly. Nice little shopping area to walk around with our cones.

    (5)
  • Daps D.

Great ice cream and great service. Can get crowded and busy, but that's a good sign!

    (4)
  • Lindsay N.

Excellent! Delicious flavors..blood orange is spectacular if your in a sorbet mood...Seasalt Caramel & Coffee is a delightful combination too. Definitely on par with gelato I've tried in Europe. Don't miss this place! :)

    (5)
  • Tricia C.

We stopped by on our way home. Having just moved here in April we were looking for a place to get great gelato. We were not disappointed. The gelato flavors are delicious. My absolute favorite is the blood orange. We each have our favorite flavor. On several nights we have ordered quarts to go home. I would say this is a must to visit. It is a little pricey.....just a little heads up!

    (4)
  • Evan M.

This place is quaint, has great service and fantastic gelato. I had strawberry cheesecake and it was fabulous - great little gem.

    (4)
  • Andrew H.

Poor excuse for gelato. Poor service. The typical Whole Foods gelato bar has better service and much better product.

    (1)
  • Ashley J.

Delicious! Our whole group loved their choices. I think Blood Orange was the favorite, but salted caramel and tiramisu were loved too. Kids, parents and greats parents enjoyed this spot. I wish they more spots outside to sit, but otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our after dinner treat!

    (4)
  • Melody S.

Love love love. Delicious. A must have when on the island. We'll be back tonight.

    (5)
  • Phuong L.

Got the blood orange and mango sorbetto which were delicious! Cute shop and very friendly staff. Would definitely come back for more yummy gelato!! Perfect on a warm sunny day!

    (5)
  • Jim P.

We loved it! Great selection of gelato flavors. Salted caramel was terrific and the cherry amoretto was very good as well. If you like tart - try the blood orange sorbet. Look for happy hours - get an extra scoop for free.

We came to Pino Gelato three times during our trip. Many in my group has been to Italy and they sign off on this place. It really does have great gelato. It loses a star for staff. Twice we saw the same woman working and she looked soooo angry at the world. While I didn't hear directly, some members of my group mentioned they heard her go off on a tirade of cussing about her job. Yikes. They also start cleaning up early. The place closes at 10, but by 930 half of the display will be taken out for overnight storage... and make your decisions quick, because they continue to pull flavors out, wrap them and bring them to the back. 5 stars for the gelato, but the operation is hit or miss.

    (4)
  • Shyanne S.

Amazing! Great selection and much better quality than the ice cream shops around. I had dulce de leche and pistachio- both were incredible!

    (5)
  • Jessica S.

This is hands-down the best gelato I have EVER tasted. If you're on the island and you don't go here at least once, you are missing out! Sizes are kids, small, medium, and large at very reasonable prices. The displays and presentation are adorable, and the service very patiently assisted us with sampling the gelato.

Large selection of flavors, samples for the kids. Vanilla was great, but the Butter Pecan was exceptional. 5 stars if there was a bathroom for customers to use.

    (4)
  • Tommy S.

Delicious and very authentic. Creamy gelato with some amazing flavors. They had some of our favs: Nutella, straticcitella, a sea salt caramel and several bright fruit flavors.

    (5)
  • Ryan C.

Really great gelato. The caramel and cookies and cream is what I had. Free extra scoop on weds from 4-6.

    (5)
  • Kimberly G.

Omg!!! Amazing!!! The salted Carmel gelato is fabulous. The only thing is the staff needs to be more aware of what's in their products. My dad wanted to know what was in the No sugar added cheesecake, and the manager didn't even know!

    (4)
  • Jess W.

If you are the type of person who appreciates gelato over ice cream, this place will not disappoint! Chocolate whiskey, cherry chocolate chip, and chocolate coconut were all amazing and interesting. If you're going to consume the calories every once in a while, make it the good stuff at Pino Gelato :)

    (5)
  • Ajay P.

A real treat for the whole ice cream loving family!!!! Very crowded, perhaps a good sign of its popularity! The prices were not bad at all! The Sorbet was especially good!

  • Demetria M.

One of my first stops every time I visit the island, there is simply nothing better than a cone/cup of gelato from what I believe is the only gelato store on the island and they have been here for years. It's a chain and a bit pricey but well worth a visit if you're a fan of gelato.

    (4)
  • Lucy D.

Loved it. Best pistachio gelato/ice cream/anything I've ever had. Really vibrant flavor. Clean, pleasant little store with mouth-watering display of gelato. A bit pricy but it's quality stuff, not cheap soft serve. The woman working there was pleasant and very patient about our indecision and the fact that we all wanted to taste a couple different flavors before deciding. She was also helpful in telling us about the shops in the adjoining shopping strip. Wish this place were near my home, I'd be there all the time.

    (5)
  • John L.

super friendly staff and delicious gelato!!! had the lemon and tried the blood orange. both were excellent and came with little cones.

    (5)
  • Ann C.

Shut up! This place is sick (and I mean in a really good way). Nutella gelato! Many flavors - ever changing. Lower in fat than ice cream - and fat free sorbets. You must go here for your dessert fix.

    (5)
  • Tim G.

Yummy Yummy. Simple and straight to the point Gelato

    (4)
  • Melissa F.

Absolutely delicious! Love the variety of flavors they have! The Blood Orange and lemon are perfect for a hot day. I went with the salted Carmel and tiramisu and I was very satisfied!

Do you enjoy something cold, sweet and refreshing after dinner, but have the after-treat guilt that prevents you from making Baskin-Robbins your second home? The selling point of Pino Gelato is the fact that you could get a tasty treat that is 93% fat free! I will concur with the other reviews that it was pretty expensive; my two scoop small cup ran me nearly $5. Considering that the majority of customers are visiting the area on vacation, why are you even bothering to give me a "buy 8 get 1 free" punch card? Give me a coupon that I can actually USE while I am in town. The whole island seemed to run on early bird specials and coupons, so this place needs to get on the bus! But I digress. I got the almond cookie and dulce de leche gelato, which was really satisfying. I particularly liked that they used actual bits of almond cookie in the gelato (think the Chinese almond cookies you get after you eat at a classier Chinese food place and they upgrade you from a fortune cookie). It was something I had never come across before and it was a really nice change. The other breakout performer was my friend's vanilla with orange swirl, which didn't have the 'fake' orange flavor that a lot of desserts tend to have. The store doesn't have too much indoor seating, but getting a bench right outside is no problem. Growing up in an Italian neighborhood in Chicago has spoiled me in the gelato department, so I won't call it the best I have ever had, but this place works in a pinch when you want a creamy treat without all the guilt in Hilton Head.

    (4)
  • Raul A.

Nice place, heard about this from some co-workers and checked it out. Love the display of gelato in the store. Will be back.

    (4)
  • Kelley M.

Lots of yummy and interesting flavors. Service was good and gelato was wonderful.

    (5)
  • Collin K.

Pretty good at least for hilton head... Probably the only place maybe to get some gelato ... I had the pistachio and the cookies and cream oh yah if you check in you get a free scoop offer ..... So win win , also I saw a sign posted somewhere happy hour 5 to 7 you also get a free scoop I happened to be there at 730 so boo lol I would def come back

    (4)
  • Cassie M.

Amazing!!! Perfect service. They were sweet to my son too! My husband had amaretto cherry and I had sea salt Carmel and tiramisu. All the flavored were on par with some I had in Italy. The espresso was sublime. A must have as a perfect after dinner treat!

    (5)
  • Candace V.

This gelato was nice and creamy. So much so that it made me doubt the statement that it was 93% fat free! You'll be glad it is, because you're going to want 2 scoops. The flavor selection was average for a gelato shop and the people in my party tried several different flavors including coffee, pistachio and a cookies and cream variety. It was all good, although the pistachio was my favorite. If you're in Hilton Head, go ahead and pop in here for dessert. You won't regret it.

    (4)
  • Krista F.

Flavors we delicious. I used the Yelp offer to get a free second scoop. Without it, it was quite pricey for just two scoops in a cup. But, hey, you're on vacation, so enjoy.

    (4)
  • Shellee R.

Great selection of flavors. The sea caramel is my favorite! Super nice staff. We came in right as they were about to close and they couldn't have been happier to see us. We will definitely be back!

    (5)
  • Thomasina S.

A bit expensive to travel to Italy, every time I want luscious gelato. Pino Gelato satisfied my craving. Stracciatella, of course...

    (4)
  • Angela M.

Definitely worth a trip for dessert while in town. A bonus is that it is open until 9:00 p.m. I had a mix of blood orange sorbetto (sorbet) and coconut gelato. Both were super yummy, but I think the flavor of the sorbet over-powered a bit. My husband mixed tiramisu and coffee flavored gelato and was pleased. They let you sample whatever you want (yay!). I don't buy that gelato is nearly fat free (in fact, I looked it up and it definitely is not), but it is "healthier" than regular ice cream in terms of fat and calories. In my opinion it tastes better too!

    (4)
  • Aaron B.

Some of the best Ice Cream I have ever had!

    (5)
  • Joshua S.

Outstanding gelato! Great knowledgeable staff. A little off the beaten path, but well worth the visit!!! Loved all of the gelato i tried! Top notch, and very tasty! Pizza lunch special was "ok". I wouldn't get it again, as it was undercooked and a little cold in the middle... Still, at least a good unique attempt at a lunch item... Gelato makes it well worth the visit!!! Best desert on the island!!!

    (5)
  • Christian B.

What a great little find. We ended up at Pino when we were craving something sweet and our first choice closed at 7. Yes, it was a bit expensive, but most gelato places are. I tried two different flavors: dulce du leche and coffee. The latter was my favorite -- it tasted like a frozen frappuccino! Of the four flavors Nova and I ordered, there wasn't a bad one in the bunch. We too got a punch card and I can easily seeing us fill it on return trips to the island.

    (4)
  • andrew t.

not too bad! samples samples samples then samples.

    (4)
  • Ronald A.

Servings are small, but one of the best gelato I have tasted I would come back here again Flavors were very good and tasted exactly what it should be

    (4)
  • Anthony P.

They serve real gelato here made from a true Italian recipe! This is the real stuff! They also serve pizza in a cone! Wow! Something totally different but great. Also, I had the Italian soda. It was so refreshing and tasty. They also have coffee if that is your desire. The service is also great!

We went to this place twice during our week-long stay at Hilton Head! Gelato is delicious, but very pricey. A standard *modest* 2 scoop cone is about $4.50. My hubby got waffle cones on both visits and they were around $5 or so. This place softens the blow a little by giving you a "buy 8 get 1 free" card. Unfortunately we couldn't use it :). The flavors are delicious! I had blood orange sorbetto and cookies and cream. The cookies and cream could have used way more cookies, but the blood orange sorbetto was out of this world. Hubby had a mocha flavor which he really enjoyed. During our first visit, we were greeted by a middle-aged male clerk who was very friendly and offered us many free tastes. This really made us want to come back. One bad thing about the franchise -- they offer "Pizza cones" or something like that. They remind me of Hot Pockets -- not that I ordered or tried one! But the pictures of the silly things... ugh... just not at all appetizing-looking. Stick with the gelato, folks!!

    (4)
  • April O.

Limoncello sorbetto? Mmm. Blood orange sorbetto? Mmm! Green tea gelato? Mmm!! The clerk said as she handed me the samples: "You're really brave." This place makes me sad. :(

Best dessert in Hilton Head!!!!! I refuse to tell how many times I have been here but lets just say if you like creamy delicious ice cream you will think you have found heaven. never met a flavor that I didn't like, but the coconut is my favorite!

    (5)
  • E K D.

Gelato pricy but tasty. Wouldn't recommend to anyone with young kids. Took our 3 year old to get dessert on vacation. The scoop-boy behind the counter interrupted my son telling me he had to use the bathroom to tell me they didn't have one we could use. All that would have been upsetting enough but his attitude was hateful, indignant and just plain nasty. We were an annoyance to him from the moment we crossed the threshold. Such treatment of customers in a resort area is always baffling to me- hope attitude and spite fills their cash registers in the off season.

    (1)
  • Brianne K.

Delicious nutella gelato. Service was not really all that friendly and servings were pretty small for the price.

    (2)
  • Randy S.

The very best. Kinda pricey but worth it. Very interesting flavors. They only make so much, so if they run out then too bad- you gotta come back the next night. Never liked Gelato until I ate it from here.

I often think about this place on cold Ohio winter days... We've been there last summer while visiting Hilton Head with friends. I loved the bright, cheery interior. The sales lady was very nice. Nowhere else can I find that amazing white chocolate raspberry flavoured gelato :( It's extremely light, but that by no means compromises the taste! They have a wide range of interesting, rare to find flavours. They also participate in funding some sort of a retreat for handicapped doggies. That includes buying wheelchairs for the completely down on luck ones, awwwwwww!!! Some people said that it's overpriced, but I think the prices are very reasonable and competitive, and it's totally worth every dime. Plus I get to experience that warm good feeling of helping to make a difference for those poor little creatures)))

Nice little place for a tasty treat. It's clean, and appears very new and classy. The air conditioning was pumping nicely which is a welcome change from a lot of places on the island. The workers were nice and friendly. The gelato was delicious. We had chocolate, strawberry, lime and apricot between two of us. It was all really good, and not overpoweringly rich. Great stuff, and i'd easily go back again. Nice touch with the cute little mini cone upside down in the bowl. The prices are a little high, but that's typical with gelato. Around $4 for a medium two scooper. You do get a punch card which would help offset the cost when you make your way to the freebie.

    (4)
  • Amy P.

Good gelato, but not outstanding. Quite pricey for serving size which can be expected for a resort area. Ordered the blood orange sorbetto. Refreshing, but not a flavorful as I expected.

    (3)
  • Drew R.

Very good gelato and a great overall selection. The vanilla with orange swirl was definitely the best flavor we tried. Also had a piece of their peanut butter pie which was very rich, but good.

Well, I was all excited to try Pino's cannoli gelato advertised on their website, since I've been searching fruitlessly for it since I was in Italy a few years ago, but alas: they don't have it at this location. With my spirits crushed so, it was difficult, but I managed to choke down a cup of chocolate hazelnut and walnut. It was ok, but cannoli it was not.

    (3)
  • Jessica C.

I really was expecting something better here. I had never had gelato and thought it would be more different than ice cream. I had strawberry and it tasted like Edy's ice cream. My sister got limoncello sorbetto which was delicious. It was good just not any different from other ice cream shops. They did have some unique flavor combos. I thought a little pricey as well. $4 for the smallest cup of ice cream.

Super yummy gelato very close to our palmetto dunes lodgings. The kids got double chocolate and it lived up to its moniker. Delicious! The chocolate hazelnut and spumoni did not disappoint either. Loved the cones on top, as did the kids.

  • Abe A.

We ordered 2 waffle cones with one scoop . The scoop was the size of a golfball so we had to order 2 scoops and $11 later .. It was good but will never go back due to minuscule scoop

Great ice cream and great service. Can get crowded and busy, but that's a good sign!

Excellent! Delicious flavors..blood orange is spectacular if your in a sorbet mood...Seasalt Caramel & Coffee is a delightful combination too. Definitely on par with gelato I've tried in Europe. Don't miss this place! :)

This place is quaint, has great service and fantastic gelato. I had strawberry cheesecake and it was fabulous - great little gem.

Poor excuse for gelato. Poor service. The typical Whole Foods gelato bar has better service and much better product.

  • Ashley J.

Delicious! Our whole group loved their choices. I think Blood Orange was the favorite, but salted caramel and tiramisu were loved too. Kids, parents and greats parents enjoyed this spot. I wish they more spots outside to sit, but otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our after dinner treat!

Love love love. Delicious. A must have when on the island. We'll be back tonight.

Got the blood orange and mango sorbetto which were delicious! Cute shop and very friendly staff. Would definitely come back for more yummy gelato!! Perfect on a warm sunny day!

  • Phil C.

Every year we go here at least 4 times in one week. This is the closest thing we have had in the US, that is just like what we have had in Europe.

  • Lucy D.

  • Cassie M.

  • Shellee R.

Great selection of flavors. The sea caramel is my favorite! Super nice staff. We came in right as they were about to close and they couldn't have been happier to see us. We will definitely be back!

    (4)
  • Lisa C.

Nice place, heard about this from some co-workers and checked it out. Love the display of gelato in the store. Will be back.

Large selection of flavors, samples for the kids. Vanilla was great, but the Butter Pecan was exceptional. 5 stars if there was a bathroom for customers to use.

    (5)
  • Ann C.

Shut up! This place is sick (and I mean in a really good way). Nutella gelato! Many flavors - ever changing. Lower in fat than ice cream - and fat free sorbets. You must go here for your dessert fix.

Yummy Yummy. Simple and straight to the point Gelato

Best dessert in Hilton Head!!!!! I refuse to tell how many times I have been here but lets just say if you like creamy delicious ice cream you will think you have found heaven. never met a flavor that I didn't like, but the coconut is my favorite!

  • Melissa F.

Absolutely delicious! Love the variety of flavors they have! The Blood Orange and lemon are perfect for a hot day. I went with the salted Carmel and tiramisu and I was very satisfied!

  • April O.

Limoncello sorbetto? Mmm. Blood orange sorbetto? Mmm! Green tea gelato? Mmm!! The clerk said as she handed me the samples: "You're really brave." This place makes me sad. :(
